What: The Seattle Times is seeking an Internet Account Executive to join the dynamic Sales & Marketing team!

This position will sell online (Banner Display) advertising onto The Seattle Times Company Online Network of sites, including seattletimes.com, NWautos.com and Centro Lift offerings. Successful in building relationships, selling products and educating customers on new online products, services and benefits. Promote the benefits of online advertising to LOCAL companies. Responsible not only for new sales, but for maintaining existing relationships. Represent The Seattle Times Company in a professional and responsible manner and will ensure overall customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve monthly sales goals.
  • Perform all aspects of effective territory management and sales processes including prospecting, cold calling, relationship building, presentations, closing, contract review and customer set-up.
  • Create online marketing and/or promotional programs for potential advertisers. Write effective sales proposals and work with designers and product teams for the development of effective online advertising solutions and campaigns.
  • Work with The Seattle Times Company print advertising sales representatives on joint products/services that will add value to the print product. Acts as an expert online consultant to the print sales force. Initiate team calls.
  • Responsible for selling new online revenue products. Prospect and sell digital only campaigns when/if effectively meets clients advertising needs. Gather competitive information and create prospect lists. Target and sell new products as assigned for the effective growth of online revenue year-over-year.
  • Responsible for basic customer service, including checking online ads for accuracy and policy acceptance, working with credit department and ad order entry to process orders, and helping to resolve any customer complaints.

Minimum Requirements (Including physical capabilities):

  • Advertising and sales skills required.
  • Must be proficient on a PC.
  • Internet proficiency required.
  • Must be able to generate leads and close sales.
  • Strong prioritization, time management and organizational skills required.
  • Must be creative and analytical.
  • Problem-solving skills required.
  • Must be an excellent communicator, verbally and in writing.
  • Must be an excellent presenter using multimedia presentation tools; specifically MS PowerPoint.
  • Must pay strong attention to details.

Preferred Experience:

  • 2+ years outside sales experience, preferably with a media and/or online organization with experience working with local retailers and advertising agencies.
  • Must have good grasp of the benefits of the Internet as an advertising media.
  • A competitive, self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirit, with the aptitude to provide creative solutions for clients.
  • Proven ability with effectively influencing buying decisions and achieving / exceeding sales plan.
