What: The Seattle Times is seeking an Associate Product Manager to be responsible for monitoring and assessing product performance and product marketing. This includes tracking performance of the product throughout the product lifecycle, gathering product and customer requirements, working with the Senior Product Manager and the product management team to define the product vision, and working closely with engineering to deliver winning products. It also includes working with sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Associate Product Manager ‘s job also includes reporting on the key performance indicators for product success and marketing efforts and helping track their support of the company’s overall strategy and goals.

Minimum Requirements: At least three years experience producing web-based products and services, preferably with a focus on online advertising. At least two years experience supporting the development and maintenance of new Internet products. Thorough understanding of the web development production life cycle strongly preferred, including planning/research, writing product requirements/specifications, implementation and operational planning, launch, reporting/maintenance, and iterative enhancement. Experience working in cross-functional product development teams required. Advertising product development experience preferred. Experience managing third-party vendors and partners preferred.

  • Business Analysis: Understands business drivers and can connect them to deliverables and feature sets that ultimately deliver viable product solutions. Able to interpret market measurements such as site traffic, revenue, market share and correlate these into tangible product goals.

  • Interactive Project Management: Researching and documenting customer needs, functional specifications, operational flows, and project plans. Able to coordinate cross-functional teams (design, engineering, QA, customer care, operations, marketing).
  • Technical Skills: Highly skilled in Word, Excel, Visio, Project. Able to partner with product managers, developers, designers and other subject matter experts to translate product needs into feasible technical solutions for mid-to-large-scale, complex Web applications. Possesses working knowledge of Web technologies and applications (PDF, CSS, Flash, video/audio formats, e-commerce processes, content management concepts). Possesses working knowledge of online advertising and performance technologies, including ad serving technology, traffic-monitoring, and related systems.
  • Exceptional communication skills: verbal, written; Able to communicate at all levels of the company

Preferred Experience: BA or BS degree in Business (Finance, Accounting, or Economics) or Advertising.
