Position: Android Developer

What: Varsity Tutors, the leading curated marketplace for private tutors, is seeking a talented Android Developer. Our company is growing rapidly and we are looking for a talented developer to help with the creation and implementation of our Android mobile applications. The Android Developer will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and be heavily involved in building elegant, high-tech mobile applications for our products This is a virtual position for applicants outside of St. Louis and for those in St. Louis it will be a based in our corporate office in Clayton, MO.
Responsibilities
- Participate in full app life-cycle: concept, design, build, deploy, test, and release to app store
- Work with existing code base to add and maintain new and existing features for Android applications
- Design and develop high performance and user-friendly, native Android mobile applications
- Work with other developers and the Varsity Team to design new features and enhance services
- Motivated starter that is obsessed with improving workflow through better user-interfaces
- 2+ years of work experience developing Android applications on phone and tablets
- Android Mobile App UI design experience
- Experience in Android NDK, XML layouts
- Experience with UI/UX design
- Experience with other mobile platform development tools and operating systems
- Have shipped 2+ apps to the Google Play store
- Experience with HTML5, JavaScript & CSS
- Experience in Android 5.0 (Lollipop) is a plus
- Ability to turn Photoshop mockups into functioning software
- Experience with any of these languages C, C++,Java, C#,Obj-C
