What: As a Competitive Product Analyst with NetMotion Wireless, you will be responsible for using technical, analytical and teamwork skills to evaluate and compare secure remote access and mobile network management software products.

The Competitive Product Analyst is a member of the product management team. This role provides a highly-visible function and deep product expertise to support strategic development, marketing and sales efforts. You will help drive both internal and external awareness about the depth and breadth of the company’s product capabilities. You’ll need passion for the technology and the ability to communicate clearly and credibly to both internal and external audiences.

The Competitive Product Analyst develops content for technical briefs, white papers, and competitive positioning documentation, demos, and market requirements. You will work closely with product management and development to provide competitive input into requirements processes. The role also collaborates closely with marketing and sales to develop compelling product marketing materials. You will work hands-on with cutting-edge wireless networking technologies and have a direct impact on the direction of strategic and highly visible products.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with team members, determines the priority of products to bring in to the lab for analysis.
  • Conducts competitive analysis on products, comparing their feature sets and functionality with the company’s own products. Researches and analyzes product documentation and marketing materials.
  • Maintains and operates a lab of competitive products for use in understanding, comparing and benchmarking competitive products with the company’s products.
  • Configures lab hardware, networking equipment and software of client-server applications running over wired and wireless networks on Windows, Android and iOS platforms; keeps the software and equipment up-to-date with the latest releases, patches, and updates.
  • Create, maintain and execute test plans and benchmarks to determine product functionality and performance.
  • Writes formal competitive analysis documents, comparative briefs, SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis, product demos, presentations and defect reports.
  • Provides written and verbal responses to inquiries from Product Managers, Development Team members, Sales Representatives, Sales Engineers, Technical Support Representatives, and Executives.
  • Keeps detailed records of the configurations and tests that were conducted and results produced so that they can be readily reproduced or referred to in the future.
  • Act as a technical product liaison
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements: Product Analysts work in the Product Management group and are experienced, hands-on technical contributors with a head for business analysis. To do well in this role, you will have:

  • 5+ years relevant technical experience. This could include experience in technical marketing, product marketing, QA or Software Test, or IT systems experience with client/server or networking-related products.
  • A strong foundation and hands-on experience in networking concepts and protocols. Current working knowledge of Windows based servers and clients, including installation and configuration
  • B.S. in math or sciences, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong skills in writing and verbal communication, including the ability to relate complex concepts and technologies in accessible, understandable ways.
  • Strong analytical abilities and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and assistance and as a member of a collaborative team.
