What: The Amazon Grocery team is looking for an enthusiastic, creative site merchandiser to help grow our business by using innovative merchandising techniques to drive customer awareness and discovery of our national food business. To this end, the successful candidate will own the customer experience for Amazon Grocery, from driving traffic to the site via compelling email campaigns and strategically placed cross-site merchandising, to ensuring ease of discovery on the site by creating the right content and stores within Amazon Grocery, and ensure  authoritative detail page content so that customers can make the right purchasing decisions based on their particular needs. Finally, all of these will be measured to identify new opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate and execute merchandising initiatives for Amazon Grocery, as well as site-wide initiatives
  • Write strong copy, including irresistible calls-to-action for targeted audiences
  • Analyze performance of content and email, always seeking ways to improve
  • Work with vendors and vendor managers to create on-brand, best-in-class content
  • Create features specific to the category, coordinating content from internal and external sources
  • Analyze traffic patterns and optimize for seasonality, relevance, and selection
  • Drive site improvements to completion by coordinating with project managers, web developers, buyers, designers, and other merchandisers.
  • Have excellent writing skills: a proven track record of writing customer-facing content that is on-brand, relevant, and tailored to the internet shopper

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years experience in building content online
  • BA/BS required
  • Advanced MS Office Skills, experience managing large amounts of data a plus
  • Basic Photoshop and web design skills, ability to optimize graphics for the web, and ability to learn our in-house tools quickly

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic XML/HTML skills: no need to hand-code, but you can troubleshoot and know your “<tr>” from your “<td>”
  • An understanding of, and passion for, the Food & Grocery market segment is highly desired
  • Solid understanding of both bricks-and-mortar and online retailing
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute projects, with strong bias for action and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to use hard data and metrics to back up feature and customer segment recommendations
  • Excellent writing skills: a proven track record of writing customer-facing content that is on-brand, relevant, and tailored to the internet shopper
  • Ability to learn the basics of Amazon’s house editing style, in order to write headlines and other text that conform to site style
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to evaluate your content in an unbiased fashion and take appropriate actions to drive for results; understanding and use of web metrics and how to gauge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Aptitude for organization
