The Network Operations group supports more than 100 servers and approximately 200 desktops. This position manages, maintains, and troubleshoots business application servers, infrastructure and messaging servers and networking equipment and participates in a multitude of IT projects.

Responsibilities:

Managing and maintaining networks and network security equipment: this includes firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, security appliances, load balancers and other network equipment.
Managing and maintaining infrastructure and messaging systems: including electronic mail; authentication systems; name resolution servers; server and desktop management systems and disaster recovery operations (including backup and restore of data and systems).
Supporting client/server and web-based enterprise business applications: including custom built and vendor packaged systems and operational support for database server platforms.
Creating and updating server and application operational documentation and network diagrams.
· Managing and maintaining the phone system, including PBX, voicemail, wiring, and add-on functions.

Within the bounds of overarching designs/principles/practices promulgated by the Sr. Network Administrator, the Network Administrator will have a great deal of responsibility for improving, extending and maintaining WSBA’s network and be entrusted with a lot of discretion for managing his/her area. This position requires a self-starter who is used to organizing his/her own work and completing tasks on time. The successful candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of outcomes, but is able to recognize when to up-level concerns to senior staff.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education, training or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the duties associated with this position. An MCSE is preferred. Degrees in computer science or engineering preferred, but other disciplines will be considered. Additional formal network administration technical training/certifications are highly desirable.

Requirements:

A minimum of 3 years hands-on experience performing network and systems management, including designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft-based servers; minimum of 1 year of experience in supporting/administering Exchange and SQL Server; excellent troubleshooting/logic skills, either intuitive or from industry algorithms for solving problems; experience deploying/supporting custom-developed and vendor package client/server and web applications. Highly qualified candidates will have experience with network monitoring tools, server capacity planning, electronic software distribution, telephony technology/administration, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WINS, remote access, Linux, virtual server technology and test planning/execution.

Proficiencies: Excellent design programming, analytical, writing, and project management skills; excellent communication skills and ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical end users; ability to foster collaboration across organizational teams; ability to effectively collaborate and engage with others with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences; knowledge of current, standard programming and analysis tools/techniques for requirements gathering, flow diagramming, and software/database design, development, and maintenance; intermediate to advanced technical support knowledge of personal computers, servers, auxiliary network equipment. In particular, proficiency with the technologies described in the “Requirements” section above.
