Scratch is a programming tool for kids, created by MIT. It lets kids create programs by fitting together blocks on screen. This is a consistently popular room.
Kids can get an intro to Virtual Reality, building with a Scratch-like block programming environment. Tutorials take kids from creating a simple 3D scene to building simple games. 3D scenes and games can be viewed on most Android/iPhones with a Google Cardboard type viewer. We can provide viewers, but not phones.
Unity is a popular 2D/3D gaming engine that can be programmed with C# or its own scripting language. We offer a selection of Unity tutorials for students to try with mentors to help them if they get stuck. Please download and install Unity Personal before coming.
Choose from a selection of fun projects or bring your own. Build a web site, a game, or experiment with circuits. Also a great place for AP Comp Sci homework help.
Get your child started on an independent-study professional certification program with FreeCodeCamp.com. Supported by donors and volunteers, Free Code Camp certifications have helped over 10,000 people get their first tech job or level up in their tech career. Our mentors will help your child get started and then provide help at our meetups. Each certification requires approximately 300 hours of online lessons and project work, so plan for your child to do the majority of their work on this at home.
