Ecological sustainability, science, and cultural change: An evening with HCDE researchers Katya Cherukumilli, David Ribes, & Shana Hirsch

Join faculty from the University of Washington’s Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) for an enlightening presentation series about research at the intersection of technology, design, and human experience.

osted at Halcyon Brewing Company in Greenwood, Seattle, these informal conversations are intended to be accessible and engaging for everyone, regardless of background. Join us and learn how we collaborate to improve technology and systems for a more just future.

Conversations will be from 7-8 p.m. with mingling from 6-7 p.m. All ages are welcome, and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Katya Cherukumilli, David Ribes, & Shana Hirsch Ecological sustainability, science, and cultural change How can human-centered design support systemic change and address future challenges in the face of climate change?

In this Earth Day conversation, we’ll explore how HCDE researchers are addressing pressing environmental issues. HCDE Professor Katya Cherukumilli will share how she integrates methods from environmental engineering, human-centered design, and public health to study safe water access for millions of people worldwide, and Professor David Ribes and Senior Research Scientist Shana Hirsch will discuss changing conceptions of nature and the earth, and how these impact ecological research.
