Break Into Tech

October 21, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Northeastern University’s BREAK INTO TECH complimentary class provides an introduction to basic computing concepts specifically designed for those with a non-technical background. The event will focus on giving a broad understanding of the fundamental and trending topics in computer science, using real-life examples to provide a hands-on experience. Learn how data and algorithms appear in your everyday life.

Why Computer Science?
• Computer scientists are in demand. Jobs are expected to grow 12% to 28% through 2020. That’s a total of more than 1,350,000 job openings.
• Computer science pays. The average starting salary for graduates of Northeastern’s MSCS program is approximately $100,000.
• Diverse backgrounds are valued. CEOs at tech firms increasingly value diversity of backgrounds in their workforce, citing creativity and critical thinking skills vital to business success.

ALIGN MSCS students come from a variety of backgrounds – with undergraduate majors ranging from English and history to biology and math to, yes, engineering. Whether your undergraduate degree is in the sciences or liberal arts, whether you’re a recent graduate or an experienced professional looking to change careers, computer science can work for you!
