Behind the scenes with the Airbnb design team

June 18, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for an evening of mingling and conversation at the Airbnb Seattle office! We’ll host a chat with a group of women researchers, designers, and content strategist from Airbnb. They’ll share a bit about their career paths, how they work together, and mentors that have helped them get where they are today. The first portion of the discussion will be a facilitated panel discussion, and we’ll leave ample time for Q&A from the audience as well. Light food and drink will be provided.

P A N E L

Joni Vanderburg-Paner
I’ve spent the last 10 years advocating for strong content strategy practices on technical product teams. I’m passionate about building inclusive, supportive spaces for people to do their best work. I recently became a master gardener, ask me about fruits and flowers!

Jian Zheng
As an immigrant, I believe in creating human-centered experiences that not only connect product teams to users but also build empathy between diverse communities. Before transitioning into UX, I worked in international development which took me to Colombia, Peru, and also NYC. My favorite hobbies are hiking and reading.

Karissa Fischer
I’m an experience researcher on Airbnb’s Support Products team. Prior to joining Airbnb, I worked at Google in several different roles including sales, research operations, and UX research. Outside of work, most of my time is spent tackling house projects, reading, and dreaming about my next vacation.

Michelle Guarino
I’m a product designer who loves diving into ambiguous problems and design systems. I’ve worked on enterprise solutions at Microsoft, designed software for law enforcement and prosecutors at Axon, and now I design customer support experiences at Airbnb. I love the excitement of feeling out of my element so these days I’m learning how to play ice hockey, Dungeons & dragons and hopefully how to parallel park.

Beth Soucy
As an experience designer on Airbnb’s Trust Tools team, I am passionate about bringing user-centered design to our suite of agent software and creating a safer, more trusting platform at Airbnb. Before Airbnb, I was a consultant for 4 years for clients such as FedEx, GE, Bose, and tech startups working in the enterprise software and connected devices spaces.

Tiffany Ng
I’m a designer working on Airbnb’s customer service tools. Before Airbnb, I was designing tools for small businesses at Square. I’m originally from the east coast and am into baking, running, and Pixar.

Kristenelle Coronado-Kaiser
I’m an experience designer on Airbnb’s Support Products team, where we’re enabling our community to get helpful and timely support when needed. Before Airbnb, I was a designer at Intentional Futures, where I worked with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, PayPal, and tech startups in the educational space. When I’m not at work, I am probably reading or staring fondly at my dog.

/ Getting to the Airbnb Seattle office /
When you arrive to 720 Olive Way, take the elevator to the 2nd floor and head to the reception area. You will need your ID to get checked in.

/ Parking /
There’s a parking lot in the building, accessible on 8th Ave between Olive and Stewart, but it’s pricey ($14 for 2 hours, $17 for 3 hours). Street parking is also available nearby, and the office is easily accessible by public transit.
