Who: Featuring Beth Takekawa, Executive Director of the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific AmericanExperience

Innovator and social change agent, Beth Takekawa, Executive Director of the Wing Luke Museumof the Asian Pacific American Experience, comes to WBE in August. From the PTA to the ACLU, most people spend some of their lives giving to individuals and organizations they deem socially valuable and many of these organizations would cease to exist without volunteers.

Through her work at the Wing Luke, Beth has a unique perspective on the volunteer experience and recognizes the depth and perspective each volunteer brings to the role. She also sees how underutilized and under valued volunteers often are. The Wing Luke Museum has recast the role of volunteer in their organization. They are Community Advisors, talented leaders who give their time, creative horse power, and business savvy. This new model has taken hold in volunteer settings across the country and is becoming a new standard for how to think about these valuable resources.
