Position: Director of Content

What: Stripes39 is looking for a highly talented Content Director with excellent management skills. The Director of Content will report to the General Manager. S/he will be responsible for building, developing and managing teams of in-house, freelance and third-party writers to efficiently produce large volumes of accurate, user-friendly, high quality written, web-based content that meets or exceeds the standards and specifications set forth by the General Manager and/or the Company. The Director of Content will need to be able to create data-driven content plans and templates which convey the necessary information to enable writing teams to produce accurate, high-quality content.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the strategy, design and production of large volumes of high quality written, visual and audio content from inception to implementation of content may include–but is not limited to–well-researched encyclopedia-style articles, short descriptive blurbs, website branding and copy, infographic scripts, video articles or interviews, e-books, feature articles, journalistic articles, written interviews, data collections with interpretation and templated articles
- Find and secure qualified writers, content managers, and subject matter experts for contact and in-house positions to support overall site content strategies.
- Create samples, specifications, template and instructions and other documentation for implementing content strategy plans.
- Adhere to templates, specifications, style guides and/or procedures if provided, while proactively giving feedback if templates, specifications, style guides and/or procedure need modification.
- Collaborate with other teams in the Company to ensure that all content is written and presented in a manner that is most useful for the end user.
- Initiate, build, nurture and maintain relationships with third party vendors and freelance writers
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or Higher (Masters Degree preferred) in English, journalism or technical writing
- Proven experience managing a team that has developed well-researched, content-driven materials
- Passion and natural talent for writing and leading teams of writers
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred Candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Writing and copy editing experience
- Excellent communication skills, initiative, and accountability
- Ability to effectively collaborate, prioritize, and execute on tasks in a dynamic and high-pressure environment
