ChefSteps is looking for an expert content marketer to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll drive key parts of the marketing strategy for Joule Sous Vide, our smart kitchen device. Cooking content is core to ChefSteps, and you’ll be responsible for deciding what content we create (recipes, videos, product tutorials, etc.) and how we promote it.

Ideally, you’re an all-around content marketer, but you have one area where your skillset goes deeper—maybe that’s email marketing, copywriting, or social media strategy. We’re looking for somebody who can demonstrate that they will expand our team’s expertise in a big way, in addition to adding marketing bandwidth and a can-do attitude.

We’re a lean team without hierarchy, so everyone pitches in on everything—you should be ready to get involved in big-picture strategy as well as detail-oriented execution. If you’re the type of person who can juggle writing tweets and choosing Instagram photos with planning and executing multi-channel marketing campaigns, this is the job for you.

  • Manage the ChefSteps editorial calendar, setting the schedule for site and app content publication, emails, social posts, major announcements, and more
  • Set the strategy for new content, making data-driven recommendations about what formats, subjects, and cadence will increase Joule awareness and acquisition
  • Working with finance and marketing colleagues, execute on communications regarding discounts, promotions, and other special offers and announcements on ChefSteps-owned channels
  • Come up with ideas for, and execute on, creative multi-channel marketing campaigns structured around holidays, announcements, promotions, or other marketing moments
  • Day-to-day email management: writing, set-up, and sending
  • Day-to-day social media management: writing and scheduling
  • Working with data scientist colleagues, monitor email and social media performance and results of multi-channel campaigns and content strategy
  • Keep on top of content marketing trends and best practices (especially social media and email), and recommend and implement any strategies that will keep us relevant and help us achieve our marketing goals

Other things you might work on depending on your expertise, interest, and the team’s needs:

  • Identifying and activating high-value influencers
  • Utilizing and encouraging further sharing of User Generated Content
  • Developing a content strategy to improve Joule user retention

  • Ability, willingness, and drive to jump into any task that needs completing, even if it’s something you haven’t done before or that you used to delegate
  • Ability to manage several complex projects at the same time
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally and driving projects forward with clear, regular communication—you’ll be the PM for your own projects
  • Experience managing a multi-channel editorial or marketing calendar
  • Experience managing social media accounts for a medium/large brand
  • Email marketing or CRM experience
  • Attention to detail and high standards for accuracy and consistency in writing and visual content
  • Strong editing and writing background (demonstrated with examples from previous work)
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices
  • Quantitative and analytical skills: ability to report on your campaigns and channel performance, as well as propose and set up tests (A/B, content experiments, etc.)
  • Knowledge and interest in food/cooking is strongly preferred
  • Experience working on video production is a plus
  • Strong creative marketing intuition and understanding of brand strategy
  • Fearless approach to arguing for your ideas, but a willingness to change your mind when presented with conflicting evidence
  • Comfort navigating an ambiguous, low-structure environment; experience in high-growth startups is a plus
  • Experience marketing consumer technology products is a big plus
  • Minimum 5–7 years of work experience
