Who: Soda

Position: Staff Writer

Where: Seattle, WA

We’re looking for a Staff Writer to join our content team as we elevate our quality and our publishing capacity in 2017. As a Staff Writer, you’ll work directly with Content Strategists, Editors, and other members of our team on our mission to help our readers find the best of anything, from face moisturizer to tax software to online dating sites. Most of our contributing writers are freelancers, but you’ll sit with us in-house, tackling the problems we have no idea how to solve (yet!). It’s important you’re a writer with the heart of an investigative journalist — no roadblock is insurmountable in your quest to find the answer.

What You’ll Do

  • Craft at least three impeccably researched, beautifully written reviews per month on any product or service that comes your way
  • Revise existing content with an eye for organization, accuracy, and overall greatness
  • Work with the Managing Editor and Senior Editors to grow our voice and style, making it smarter, snappier, and even more compelling
  • Collaborate with our in-house Content Strategists on research direction and angle

What It’ll Take

  • An extremely sharp writer who can easily embody our house voice and craft long-form content with confidence and speed
  • Unwavering standards for research, logic, and language
  • An unwillingness to publish something until it’s great — and just the right amount of deference for deadlines
  • Flexibility in the face of change and bright eyes in the face of huge challenges
  • Fearless ideas on how to build a content machine that’s bigger and better from the ground up

Who We Are

  • We’re a mighty content team of 11 with a growing roster of active freelancers that’ll top 50 by the end of 2017
  • We’re relentless in our pursuit of excellence, self-critical, and candid — and not allergic to change
  • We never say no to getting elbows-deep in a topic if it brings us closer to the truth
