Position: Graphic Designer & Website Content Manager
Where: Olympia
What:  This part-time to full-time position works with the Hands On Children’s Museum (HOCM) communications and development teams, and coordinates with the other lead graphic designer to ensure excellence in all museum collateral, advertising and promotions. Also ensures updated, relevant and compelling website content and information.

 Responsibilities:
Graphics
• Works with communications manager and lead graphic designer to execute design strategies for marketing campaigns, website, social media, internal communications and collateral- this includes materials such as fliers, posters, banners, ads, brochures, logos, signage, display materials and email marketing for all Museum activities, services and products often on tight deadlines
• Packages and sends design files and directions to print vendors
• Coordinates his or her daily project workload to meet deadlines and communicates reasonable deadlines for the project, reports production status/challenges during the design/production process to appropriate parties
Website Content Management
• Audits and tests web pages for ease of use, factual accuracy, spelling and style; Updates page copy, links and images; Adds videos and photo galleries to keep users on pages longer
• Works with a cross-departmental team, maintaining and developing the master calendar for all museum events and activities
• Creates engaging content (copy, images and videos) Thinks through website strategies and optimizes pages to meet department goal
• Keep current with emerging web technologies through relevant blogs, listservs and events
• Tracks and reports website analytics

Requirments:
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, website design or related degree. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted
• A minimum of three years of relevant work experience creating graphic and design solutions across all platforms, using InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver
• Relevant work experience managing websites; knowledge of HTML and experience with multiple popular content management systems (Drupal, WordPress, Business Catalyst, etc.)
• Work experience using Google Analytics
• Nonprofit experience strongly desired
• Digital media design skills including ability to build files based on specifications and prep for printing
• Efficient, creative management and creation of website content
• Possesses a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and take specific direction
• Adaptable, flexible and can work under pressure and tight deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a project team
• Must be willing to occasionally work evenings and weekends
