Position: Web Content Manager

What: The Web Content Manager reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications and is a dynamic, self-motivated individual with experience and skills in web content management, writing, editing for the web, training and site management.

This position will be responsible for developing the voice of Pierce College’s web presence. In addition to writing, editing, and proofreading site content, this person will also work closely with the technical team to maintain site standards with regard to new development. Responsibilities also include handling basic editorial functions in Drupal, managing user permissions, and crafting site promotions, email newsletters, and online outreach campaigns. The Web Content Manager will work under tight deadlines and must have strong communication and attention to detail skills in order to work closely with faculty, students, administration, technicians and marketing members of our organization.

Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and implement the delivery of Web Services
• Develop a strategic vision for the district website in concert with the Director of Marketing & Communications that results in a high level of user-success
• Manage all aspects of the college’s web presence by coordinating the strategy, planning, maintenance and accessibility by utilizing search engine optimization and web analytics
• Create standards, work priorities, guidelines and milestones for content based on the college’s goals and input from all college stakeholders
• Manage content in Drupal
• Coordinate with departments and content creators to effectively create and update website content that meets the standards, guidelines, and timelines established
• Copyedit, proofread and be the final approver of all web content
• Transfer and edit content from the college’s website to the new CMS system
• Establish and adjust as necessary the architectural and navigation of the college’s website while working closely with the department’s graphic artists on the design
• Maintain a consistent look and feel following the college’s branding guidelines throughout all web properties
• Create accounts and sites for blogging and other social media, integrating social networking functions into the website
• Work closely with the IT department for technical needs that affect the website and it’s availability, and to gain access to server and database systems as needed
• Develop, implement and adhere to regular website maintenance policies and procedures, including end-user content change requests
• Provide and maintain shared resources and web tools (such as templates)
• Ensure college web compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
• Assure web-based information is archived for future needs and reference
• Other duties as assigned
• Provide online, face-to-face, and group coaching and training to all employees to learn and operate the new CMS (Drupal) system
• Keep current with emerging web technologies through relevant blogs, list serves, and events
• Serve as a strong advocate for web standards and work with various college departments and divisions to ensure compliance
• Continually monitor analytics and key performance indicators to assure a positive user experience and help determine return on investment (ROI)
• Engage in evaluative thinking, problem-solve and analyze non-routine issues using data
• Use task forces, focus groups and other venues to gather input from stakeholders
• Recommend content, procedures and processes that strengthen the college’s position in marketing and recruitment efforts

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing or a related field
• Two (2) years of full-time experience managing content and production for high traffic websites
• Experience copywriting and proofing
• Passion, integrity, and energy!

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of HTML, and experience with popular content management systems such as Drupal
• Demonstrated knowledge of current principles and practices of social media
• Basic Adobe Photoshop skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with individuals and groups within and outside the College; strong customer service experience

• Seek ways to improve service delivery to students; assess our online publications and services from the student’s point of view
• Makes timely and informed decisions when working towards goals and task completion
• Working knowledge of MS Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet
• Three (3) to five (5) years of full-time experience in writing or editing content, social media channel management, website CMS management or related experience
• Drupal CMS development experience
• Experience developing a comprehensive online web and social media strategy
• Experience with social media monitoring and analytics
• Knowledge of public relations and promotional development and implementation
• Basic photo and/or video production skills
• Experience solving challenging, creative and technical problems and providing innovative solutions
• Familiar with Adobe Creative and/or Production Suite
