What: Meteorcomm, a global telecommunications company that provides data communications solutions and services for the railroad industry is looking for Data Warehouse Engineer, II to support our growing team based out of the Renton area.

The Data Warehouse Engineer, II will function as a hands-on applications support technician, database administrator and BI developer for both Microsoft and non-Microsoft technologies providing timely and quality application support services to the Meteorcomm staff, with a high-degree of focus towards customer service.

The Data Warehouse Engineer, II will design, develop, and maintain relational databases for data storage, reporting, and analytics within a data warehouse/data mart framework.

The Data Warehouse Engineer, II will also provide application development and support for a variety of Microsoft applications, specifically including SharePoint 2013 and Dynamics GP as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain the Meteorcomm’s Business Intelligence (BI) solution, which may include Microsoft and non-Microsoft tools.  These will include, at minimum, relational databases, SSIS ETL packages, SSAS OLAP Cubes, SSRS, PowerPivot, PowerView, PerformancePoint and Excel.
Using the tools and technologies mentioned above and others, define technical requirements, develop and maintain automated data extract/load scripts/jobs between disparate systems including data mart.
Ensure that applications meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
Conduct research about changes and advancements around BI and SQL Server products, services, and standards.
Develop and maintain professional-looking and highly self-service reporting and analysis tools, including dashboards and scorecards that accurately display the metrics of the organization.
Maintain a comprehensive set of technical documentation in relation to the BI solution
Administer, maintain and tune SQL databases
Provide full development lifecycle support for new and existing software applications as directed by management.
Both individually and to support other IT team members, triage, work, resolve and help manage IT help desk tickets.
Maintain and continually improve IT systems and support documentation.
Provide on-call support during business hours and off-hours based on the on-call rotation schedule within defined SLA targets.
Deliver support to end users in the organization about how to use various types of software programs efficiently and effectively in fulfilling business objectives. This includes troubleshooting applications and software for all internal customers, including Engineering, Finance, Customer Service, Operations, etc.
Conduct job duties and responsibilities according to the organization’s business systems development methodology and/or its Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology.

Requirements:

Possesses excellent customer service abilities.
A self-starter and self-motivated.
Able to quickly learn new technologies, including both Microsoft and non-Microsoft technologies.
Employs excellent collaboration, communication and problem solving abilities.
Knowledge of Business Intelligence principles, data analysis and transformation from diverse data sources and data types (experience with Json a plus)
2+ years experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2012/2014), T-SQL, SQL Server Data Tools, OLAP,SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, PowerPivot, PerformancePoint, Visual Studio, etc.)
2+ years customizing and supporting on-premise high availability SharePoint 2013 deployment (experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups a plus)
BS degree in engineering or computer science preferred or experience and a minimum of five years’ experience in SQL Server and Applications development
Experience deploying, upgrading and maintaining on-premise Microsoft Dynamics GP (incl. GP web)
Experience with additional 3rd party BI Tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, etc.
Experience with web, application and SQL development and programming languages and tools (C#, VB.net, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), DevExpress ASP.net)
Setup and monitoring GoogleAnalytics
Setup and administering of other BI tools (i.e., Tableau, Alteryx, etc.)
Solarwinds or other enterprise monitoring tools
Experience with Agile methodologies (i.e., SAFe, Scrum, etc.)
Solid understanding of business practices with fundamental understanding of project management methodology
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
