Position: DevOps Engineer
Where: Seattle
What: We are seeking a bright, self-motivated DevOps Engineer to join our Engineering team. The DevOps Engineer will be a jack of all trades with experience in system administration, network operations, software development, build and release engineering, performance engineering an site operations. A small organization mentality is critical for success in this position: a passionate can-do attitude, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to collaborate while acting as a thought leader in your area of expertise will serve you well at RootMetrics. Responsibilities:
• Partner with Service Ops on several fronts
Monitoring
Capacity versus utilization of our production clusters
Forecast capacity
• Own Engineering infrastructure needs (forecasting/building/maintaining)
• Understand our customers and use cases
• Drive right deployment strategies
• Develop deep understanding of system architecture
• Build configuration management
• Define and implement performance metrics
• DevOps best practices and strategies
• Build release-ready deployment management system(s)
• Research all things cool that save money and time

Requirements:
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
• Prior experience supporting large scale, highly available, service-oriented, distributed production systems.
• Minimum 5+ years of industry experience
• Coding: Python preferred, Ruby a plus
• Strong understanding of best practices around release engineering
• Experience with cloud clusters such as EC2/AWS/Colo is essential
• Exposure to MySQL, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL approaches to data storage
• Exposure to Nagios, Django, Nginx and Celery
• Strong written & oral communication skills are essential
• Experience with configuration management tools (such as Chef or Puppet; Chef preferred) and distributed version control systems (Git preferred)
