As part of the Custom Websites team for YachtWorld.com and Boats.com, you will be responsible for designing and developing premium marine websites for our customer base of boat dealers, brokers and manufacturers. Dominion Marine Media is looking for a creative, smart individual who can successfully engage with their clients to create unique websites used to showcase their boat and yacht business. Successful applicants should be able to provide a portfolio of work that demonstrates their clear understanding of a client’s needs and their ability to design a website that reflects this.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute high-quality designs and functionality to ongoing custom website work in a timely manner.
- Maintain functional and secure sites for our customers.
- Collaborate with other members of the custom websites team to design and develop online marketing solutions for our customers.
- Update project manager of project status.
- Communicate and share with team members their development breakthroughs and discoveries on shared code base. Upload these improvements to SVN.
- Participate in weekly meetings in conjunction with our agile process.
- Take part in the shared QA responsibilities fostering the release of quality code.
- Document systems, procedures, and processes relevant to our suite of products.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Computer Science, design, or related field of study
- 3+ years of web development experience
- Demonstrated reliability and efficient work process
- Demonstrated ability to maintain productive relationships with peers & management
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced work environment
- Passion for online media and meeting the needs of a small businesses
- Understands the importance of precision and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and in writing
- Professional experience with a LAMP stack platform
- Proficient in developing with the following languages (in order of importance):
- HTML/HTML 5
- CSS 3
- PHP
- SQL
- JavaScript (w/ jQuery)
- XML
- Experience accessing and accommodating web-based APIs
- Understanding of agile or similar software development processes preferred
- Experience with responsive web design and development targeted at mobile devices
