Blue Nile places a high value on social media. This role includes managing the company’s already prominent place on social media and building it to become the preeminent social conversation destination for diamond engagement, jewelry, and fashion-related topics. The Social Media Manager will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, help develop effective social strategy, and engage in daily social conversation on behalf of the world’s premier online jeweler, all with flexibility, stamina and good humor.

• Social media community management, including content development, community moderation and strategy, all while upholding the reputation of the world’s premier online destination for diamonds and fine jewelry.
• Research, write and edit materials and editorial calendars.
• Work with the creative design group to develop new and engaging assets.
• Seek out and develop relationships with customers and influencers in and out of Blue Nile’s social media community.
• Keep the team apprised of community performance, including growth and engagement.
• Utilize monitoring tools to compile weekly and monthly activity reports, and prepare status reports.
• Manage projects working with staff and vendors to ensure superior quality standards are met.

Basic Qualifications:
• 1-3 years of social media and public relations experience in a communications agency or in-house role.
• Bachelor’s degree.

• Knowledge of how an online community ebbs and flows across social media platforms.
• Experience managing corporate channels on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram.
• Ability to identify stories of interest to Blue Nile’s social community.
• Superior research, writing and editing skills, and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
• Ability to identify emerging platforms.
• Ability to contribute to projects immediately with minimal ramp-up.
• Solid sense of how different types of social media tools are appropriate for different types of communication.
• Strong organizational, critical thinking, creativity, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity managing global social communities and experience with geo-targeting.
• Basic understanding of social media reporting tools (i.e. Buddy Media, Simply Measured, Facebook Insights).
• Basic knowledge of Photoshop.
