Blue Nile is looking for a passionate and talented Manager of Web Development who will lead a team of front end web development engineers in the development and support of solutions that meet Blue Nile’s business needs. This role’s technical responsibilities include providing software architecture and design guidance to the team and to other groups in the technology department, ensuring quality, reliability, and scalability in Blue Nile’s code base, and engineering solutions that meet business needs as well as cost and time objectives. This role also oversees the management of a group of front end web developers, and is responsible for project communications concerning project goals, specifications, status, and results.

Responsibilities:

•Provide technical leadership for design and implementation of new features and software system enhancements
•Help define long-term organizational software strategy
•Lead the development of software primarily in HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Java
•Collaborate with business sponsors to create solutions that satisfy business needs
•Plan, implement, deploy, and support software projects
•Perform code and test plan reviews; take responsibility for the quality of released software
•Share on call responsibilities
•Manage and mentor developers
•Manage technical relationships and integrations with partners and vendors

Qualifications:

•Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent
•Two or more years experience leading software teams
•A minimum of seven years of active software development
•Three or more years experience developing web based applications
•Strong analysis, design and development skills
•Understanding of web protocols and standards
•Strong communication skills; must be able to work effectively across teams
•Strong leadership skills
