City University of Seattle is currently seeking a Manager of Public Relations and Communications. This is a key professional position reporting to the VP of University Advancement. This strategic position will provide public relation counsel and leadership, university-wide. The position will be provided wide latitude to develop and deploy a multi-tiered PR strategy for the university’s staff, accomplishments and individual schools. The position will also oversee the communications function for CityU and require a strong writing proficiency. This person will manage CityU’s communications specialist and any contract writers as needs warrant.Responsibilities: This role will own the PR strategy for CityU in the US and Canada with the possibility of leading the global strategy in time. This person will be required to build out CityU’s PR department with policies and procedures where there are currently none. The ideal candidate will have experience in a mature PR function, understand best practices plus posses the ability to adapt and utilize them for CityU. The candidate will have experience promoting higher education or a like professional service organization. This person needs to have demonstrated experience developing and deploying PR campaigns that promote values and position over benefits and features. The ideal person will have industry contacts and the comfort to present CityU with the media locally and nationally. This person will interact with the University President and the President’s Executive Team on a regular basis requiring the deft skill set of interfacing with upper management.

Requirements: The position requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Public Relations or Marketing, a master’s degree is preferred for the candidate’s credentials. However, CityU also puts tremendous value on honoring a person’s prior learning experience and will look at any candidate with solid and verifiable Public Relations or Marketing performance based credentials.
