This role will manage Expedia US merchandising and promotions operations for all products lines, as well as lead the global store front and merchandising product roadmap. The Senior Director, Merchandising & Promotions will also oversee a team of merchandising analysts to develop standardized destination reporting, identify forward pacing promotional opportunities, and illustrate business impact through regular promotional recaps.

Responsibilities: Lead Global store front and merchandising development work that balances global efficiencies and standards with unique regional requirements.
Optimize current user flows and develop new user experiences and backend toolsets to improve conversion across merchandising areas of the sites worldwide.
Take leading role to synchronize regional merchandising teams across Expedia worldwide.
Develop an annual promotional calendar and ongoing merchandising programs that blend consumer demand trends with supply opportunities while maximizing ROI for Expedia and our partners.
Partner with marketing channel teams (Paid Search, SEO, Email, Online Partner Marketing, Online/Offline Advertising, PR, Social Media) and Customer Operations to maximize exposure and effectiveness of campaigns.
Develop new promotional vehicles designed to integrate sponsorships while also improving conversion.
Lead vendor relationships and development roadmap for key merchandising technologies.
Work daily with Supply teams (Air, Hotel Market Management, Hotel Strategic Accounts, Car, and Destination Services) to source advantaged inventory and optimize assortment based on demand trends and promotional opportunities.
Utilize ongoing dashboards to maximize origin, destination, promotion, and placement performance.
Monitor and analyze industry promotional activity. Lead crisis communications efforts for the US site. Directly manage a dynamic team of Merchandisers / Analysts and indirectly manage cross functional development teams in multiple offices around the world.

Requirements: 10-15 years applicable experience with at least 5 years in Ecommerce, Product Marketing or Retail Merchandising. Demonstrated experience leading a product, category, division, etc. with P&L management responsibility. Demonstrated experience leading website development efforts that result in substantial business growth. Demonstrated experience working with promotions and/or merchandising planning, as well as product assortment segmentation and targeting. Adept at successfully driving projects and new business initiatives through a highly matrixed organization. Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills. Experience with presentation development and delivery to internal executives at all levels and external partners in small and large forums. Experience developing reporting frameworks to support key business perspectives and leading key analyses with minimal supervision. Demonstrated experience working in a team environment with excellent communication skills and people management skills. Experience working with teams across various geographic locations. Travel industry experience a plus. Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
