Seattle is one of the world’s most respected centers of innovation in information technology and communications. Second only to the Silicon Valley, the Puget Sound region is the birthplace of Amazon, Expedia, F5 Networks and Microsoft, as well as an engineering outpost for more than 135 tech companies, from Alibaba, Facebook and Apple to Google, Salesforce and Twitter.
Many of the state’s 12,000 ICT businesses can trace their origins to these companies, started by entrepreneurial employees who struck out on their own to create the next big idea. Today, the ICT sector employs an estimated 220,000 workers, creating an ecosystem that is both innovative and collaborative.
