Fundamentals for Startups: Artificial Intelligence: Industry Learnings from China & U.S.

In the fast-moving world of AI & Machine Learning, Chinese and U.S. companies are racing ahead to create industry-dominating businesses that have worldwide ramifications. Currently, Chinese companies are ahead in Applied AI specifically in the areas of facial recognition and natural language processing, while American companies dominate in basic AI research and platform building. There are plenty that both sides can learn from each other as a source for new ideas and competition but also for collaboration.

He has built, scaled and operated sizable cross functional global teams in building products & services in Connected Consumer Devices, IoT, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning/AI. Rao has spent over 15 years in China in startups and large Fortune 500 companies. Rao obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, India and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Rao Talasila on LinkedIn.

Fundamentals for Startups is a weekly one-hour lecture series featuring notable experts who share startup-related information, experience, and insights with our entrepreneurial community. From raising capital to scaling to exit strategies, these seasoned guest speakers deliver valuable content designed to help startups and entrepreneurs thrive. Lectures are typically 30-40 mins, followed by open Q&A.

Each lecture is filmed, live streamed and archived on CoMotion’s Startup Training Videos page.

Light refreshments will be served. These lectures are open to the public and you do not have to be currently affiliated with the UW or a startup to join, but please pre-register. We hope to see you there!
