Angel Investing: How to Get Started

March 10, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Free

Come hear two experienced angels speak about getting started investing in technology start-ups. They will cover:

1. How to think about the different stages of start-ups and build a portfolio.
2. How many deals you need to be in, liquidity of your investments, timing, and deal flow.
3. Due diligence: the basics of evaluating start-ups.
4. How deals are structured and legal basics.

Whether you are ready to start now or planning for the future this interactive session is designed to provide a framework for thinking about angel investing, how to make your first deal, and how to engage as an ongoing investor. The discussion will be targeted at those wanting to actively invest but is useful for passive investors in seed funds who wish to understand more about this asset class.

Sarah Imbach is an active angel investor. She currently serves on seven boards and advises several other start-ups. Her focus is software, consumer and enterprise, marketplaces, and other consumer goods. Before locating to the PNW, Sarah was an early, pre-IPO, senior executive at three industry defining startups: COO at 23andME, Chief of Staff and VP of Revenue & Operations at LinkedIn, and SVP Customer Service Operations & Fraud at PayPal.

Serena Glover is an independent angel investor and board advisor to consumer and enterprise focused mobile, cloud service, and VR/AR companies. In 2004 she co-founded Twango, a consumer media sharing service, and negotiated its acquisition by Nokia in 2007. Prior to Twango, Serena spent 9 years at Microsoft, and was part of a research team at the University of Michigan that built some of the first database and graphic design tools.
