Classmates.com, a fixture in the South Sound’s Renton business community for the past 13 years, will be relocating its operations to Seattle next year to be in closer contact with the area ‘s higih tech developers and contractors.

With a current roster of 239, the business unit of United Online will occupy two floors along the Seattle waterfront at 333 Elliott Avenue West.

The 58,000-square-foot office in Seattle — which will include outdoor signage for Classmates — offers more flexible space in which to expand, said president Steven McArthur. After scouing a number of locations throughout the region, McArthur said it made the most sense to take the “world-class space” in Seattle. [24×7]

Microsoft Files Patents for ‘InPrivate’ and ‘Cleartracks’ Browser Privacy Tools
Microsoft has reportedly applied for trademarks to protect two of its Internet tools, InPrivate and Cleartracks, both of which could be part of the upcoming version of Internet Explorer 8 Web browser.

According to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office records, TechwebNews.com reported, Microsoft applied to trademark the name “Cleartracks” on July 30, under the term “computer programs for accessing and using the Internet and the World Wide Web, and computer programs for deleting search history after accessing Web sites.”

Another trademark application was filed on the same day to trademark the name “InPrivate” under the term “computer programs for disabling the history of file caching features of a Web browser, and computer software for notifying a user of a Web browser when others are tracking Web use and for controlling the information others can access about such use,” the report said, referring U.S Patent and Trademark Office records. Medio Searching for Deal with Google & Verizon
Seattle mobile search startup Medio Systems could be part a new partnership between Google and Verizon according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

The Journal reports: Seattle-based startup Medio Systems Inc., which already handles digital-content searches for Verizon, would manage the all-in-one search service and would play a role in linking in additional content from other Internet companies, such as Facebook.

All involved parties will split revenue from ads that come up in response to the keywords users search. The percentage each company will get isn’t yet clear. [24×7]
