Position: Systems Engineer
Where: Seattle
What: Provides internal technical leadership and service for executive client workstation issues and projects. Offers resolutions and options to known technical challenges by performing first, second and third level troubleshooting to gain the best possible outcome for the customer. This position is also responsible for keeping abreast of emerging technologies and providing proactive options on how it can be used to improve efficiency and productivity throughout Vulcan.

Responsibilities:

  • Proven ability to successfully perform various levels of technical troubleshooting and problem resolution for client hardware and software. Experience required in advanced troubleshooting of technology equipment and devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and support local and remote customers, equipment and devices.
  • Proven ability to successfully use individual leadership to mentor and coach fellow team members and associates on advanced technical issues.
  • Utilize technical knowledge to assist with the creation and maintenance of technical processes and standards for client hardware and software. Demonstrate initiative to identify diverse methodologies for applying technical practices and standards in a business environment that is constantly changing and evolving.
  • Must serve as a resource and point of escalation for customers and team members for basic and advanced troubleshooting of technical issues.
  • Assist in documenting technical processes and procedures, as well as provide documentation to assist and train fellow team members to be successful in routine operations.
  • Proven ability to develop positive and prosperous relationships with customers, vendors, affiliates and fellow team members. Demonstrated ability to maintain a reputation that reflects quality customer service on a continued basis. Maintains open and continual communication with customers and team members on requests and problem status.
  • Serve on owner driven projects and initiatives that require technical expertise and participation to include researching, evaluating, implementing and providing advanced solutions of client hardware and software.
  • Develop and implement methods for automating repetitive installations, processes and tasks.
  • Proven ability to balance the demands of daily and routing assignments with longer-term projects.
  • Provide updates, status, and completion information to management in an effort to maintain continual and open communication of activities and tasks using agreed upon methods.
  • Availability for on-call support 24×7.
  • Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity and fulfillment of commitments

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware – PCs and laptops
  • Strong understanding of computer software and interaction with Operating System, i.e., Windows 8, Microsoft Office 2010 Suite, and Active Directory management of PCs
  • Proven ability to support remote users and workstations
  • Ability to think clearly and maintain performance under stress
  • A+ Certification and MCSE
  • Windows 8 operating system and all applications running on the system – troubleshooting, support, configuration, and performance optimization
  • Office Application Suite – troubleshooting, support, configuration, and customization
  • Computer imaging and testing
  • Computer monitoring and maintenance
  • Ability to maintain, write, and execute test plans
  • Document test results and work through problems to resolution both independently and through team collaboration
  • Must be comfortable working with managed systems in Active Directory and NTFS Permissions
  • Laptop and Desktop hardware maintenance
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to perform basic troubleshooting from the command line interface
  • Scripting experience a plus
  • Experience in video editing or working in a broadcast environment also a plus
  • Must have experience in troubleshooting and resolving Windows performance issues
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) from accredited institution and four plus years relevant experience, OR, equivalent combination of education and experience.
