Position: Employee Engagement & Communications Manager

What: The Employee Engagement and Communications Manager is responsible for managing a variety of employee engagement and internal communications initiatives for Vulcan Inc.’s various projects, business units and affiliates.  This individual provides communications consultation to internal clients and manages projects in the areas of employee engagement, internal communications and employee events.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver a companywide internal communications strategy for Vulcan Inc. that supports employee engagement and business objectives.
  • Develop consistent internal messaging about company vision, strategy, goals and values.
  • Partner with HR to develop and manage communication components of policies and organizational changes that impact employees.
  • Manage internal employee blog, the Vulcan Voice, to ensure timely and steady stream of relevant company news.
  • Create and manage employee engagement calendaring and events.
  • Support and promote internal wellness program and activities.
  • Coordinate production of video updates from the CEO, as well as CEO reports or notes to the staff.
  • Work with Brand Design to produce internal promotional materials, such as posters, flyers, invitations and email messages.
  • Create other internal materials, as assigned.
  • Evaluate and measure internal communications efforts. 

Management Responsibilities:
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Knowledge, experience, skill, and/or ability

Required

  • Demonstrated experience in internal communications and/or corporate communications.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and track/deliver budgets, production schedules, project timelines and other documents.
  • Experience managing vendors such as marketing consultants, writers, photographers, designers, printers and other external resources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid track record of efficiently and creatively solving problems and working under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, manage external resources, and liaise with a broad range of internal and external clients, departments and stakeholders, at various levels within the organization.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • B.A. required and five plus years relevant experience ­­­ or equivalent combination of education and experience.
