What:  Located steps from the Pike Place Market, Ritani is a small, but well-funded, early stage start-up with offices in New York and Seattle. We are revolutionizing the diamond and fine jewelry category by partnering with local jewelers to create a real ‘bricks and clicks’ experience for consumers. The founding team has a proven track record in e-commerce success at scale. We are looking for a talented editor who is excited about creating and continuously enhancing the customer experience.
The ideal ‘fit’ is passionate about being the voice of a brand and creating compelling online experiences. You should be comfortable working as both copy writer and editor in chief (insert obligatory ‘lots of hats’ reference here) across a variety of mediums from email marketing to social media. You will work collaboratively with merchandising, software engineers, product management, marketing, and the executive team on a day-to-day basis (hey, it’s a small team).
You should be a compelling advocate for users and comfortable writing at many layers in the online experience; from high-level merchandising and educational guides to style-oriented blog content and social media fodder. You view change and iteration as not only expected, but necessary in creating a compelling experience.
Responsibilities:
• Champion the unique voice and personality of the brand ensuring the experience is best-in-class, delivering on its value proposition, unique from competitors, and consistent across all touch-points.
• Own all aspects of site content and conduct principal copy-writing efforts including merchandising, blog and more corporate content, ‘how-to’ or educational guides, and product descriptions.
• Partner with the marketing team to write all site-related emails; both transactional and promotional.
• Support and update Ritani’s presence on owned and operated social media channels as well as any ‘in the wild’ mentions.
• Work with the design and site experience team to ensure site interfaces, labels, and other elements are intuitive.
• Develop, refine, and champion internal standards to ensure copy is consistent and professional.
• Act as a subject matter expert on all things copy writing, including, but not limited to: online, print, email marketing, direct marketing, and beyond.
Requirements:
• A B.A. /B.S. degree in English, technical writing, or related field.
• 2 — 3 years of experience with consumer-focused online copy writing. Experience in ecommerce required. Experience in social media preferred.
• A passion for translating a brand’s advantages and personality to the consumer via creative copy and through numerous customer touch points.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with left and right brained individuals — often at the same time.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship management skills — you get things done and people like working with you.
• A knack for consuming feedback as fuel.
