Seattle’s Interactive Conference 2014 — Making It Real!

wired-makestuff
It’s been four years since the Seattle Interactive Conference first gained world-class recognition.

In year one, as a heavyweight contender for the title of most authoritative, most credentialed thought-leading Internet symposium on the planet.

In year two, tipping a truly industry-galvanizing inflection point for e-commerce, whether the industry was E-tail, Gaming, Movies, Music, Travel or Wireless.

Fast forward to this coming week’s culmination as the epicenter of entrepreneurism in D-I-Y initiatives and startup ingenuity that are endemic to the region. Conference founder and organizer Brian Rauschenbach has created a worthy counterpart to the melange of tech artisans who gather at SXSW in Austin.

Let’s be honest. Proximity-wise, Austin, TX., can’t hold a candle to the luminescence of the Seattle/Redmond/Bellevue/Bothell/Everett Northwest tech scene.  Not until they start rolling out 787 aircraft, or next generation Windows tablets, or dominate a market like espresso cafes, or gets hands on with a controller of the videogame prominence of the Pacific Northwest.

The latest edition of SIC drives the “Made Right Here” point home with both eloquence and prominence. Here are a few of the standout sessions attendees can sink their eye-teeth into:

The Future of Business Models: The Crowd.  Jeremiah Owyang, a social media prophet if there ever was one, will reveal his insights on how organizations can benefit from the “maker movement” by tapping into the crowd and creating new business opportunities that reduce capital expenditures and operating costs. (#MakeChange).

Artist Cey Adams, a New York City native, will discuss his 30+ year career creating art and design for clients including Def Jam, Bad Boy, EMP, Adidas, Nike, Burton Snowboards Jay-Z, and Dave Chappelle.

Local search marketing pundit, David Mihm, of Moz, will reveal Google’s recent Local algorithm changes with an eye on strategies and tactics that will lead to long-term success.

A stellar lineup will address “Beyond the Selfie: Understanding Millennial Women,” debunking misconceptions and sharing best practices for engaging and inspiring the trust of these young women.

‘Microsoft’s Kristen Ward and Y&R’s Kai Musielak will share how the launch of Xbox One changed the way marketers should think about direct, digital, and social communications, using email as a social channel, experimenting with form factor, and celebrating the competition in social – just a few examples of how Xbox’s creative innovations are pushing boundaries and increasing fan engagement.

In synopsis, you can attend SXSW and taste great barbecue while collecting bits and pieces of generalized information on various new media mission statements, or you can attend NXNW (the Seattle Interactive Conference) and find the tools, techniques and technologies that are actually transforming those concepts  into glowing realities.)  In short, Seattle’s NXNW walks the talk of Austin’s SXSW. In terms of making it work, making it real and making it happen, this year’s Seattle Interactive Maker’s Conference should make your day, your week and your year! [24×7]
