Shop and Surf at Bellevue Square

Bellevue Square, one of the top ten retail centers in the U.S., has added free wireless fidelity (WiFi) Internet access as a new amenity for its 16 million annual shoppers. Its the only shopping center in the Pacific Northwest to offer the service.

Weve turned a shopping hot spot into a WiFi hotspot too, said Glen Bachman, vice president of operations. Todays shoppers are smart and sophisticated and the Internet is a part of their life at home and at work. Now they can enjoy shopping at the Square and log in to check email or surf the web. What a great way to relax while the family is shopping, stay on top of your work, or simply enjoy the atmosphere at The Square while downloading email.

WiFi high-speed Internet access has gained popularity as computer makers have made the technology standard into notebook computers, personal digital assistant (PDA) devices and cell phones. Those who enjoy the modern digital lifestyle use WiFi for work and entertainment almost anywhere. More and more, travelers seek out WiFi-enabled locations for dining, entertainment and shopping.

Bellevue Square merchants and center operators are also using the WiFi network. Merchants use it for Internet access, and center management plans to use it to connect security cameras and transmit information to touch-screen directories used by shoppers. According to Bachman, the network will soon be expanded to include the remainder of The Bellevue Collection at the adjacent Bellevue Place and Lincoln Square properties.

To log on at Bellevue Square, users simply open their web browser and register for access. Already, we are seeing people take advantage of the free WiFi and as word spreads, we are confident it will be an important reason to shop at Bellevue Square, says Bachman.

The Bellevue Square WiFi network was installed and managed by ACJ Technology Solutions, Inc of Bellevue, Wash.
